Volunteer for the Kris Yip Memorial Fondo
Great events need great volunteers! Let's "Crush It!"
Help us make the second annual Kris Yip Memorial Fondo a memorable event that participants will want to attend year after year. By doing so, you will not only help keep the legacy of a local champion alive but also contribute to raising awareness about heart disease and advocating for better heart health care in the North.
It will be a fast-paced day full of vendors, music, good food, and good vibes!
Something for Everyone
There will be a variety of positions to fill and maybe even some we haven't thought of yet. From package pick-up, course set-up, security, aid stations, vendor and venue support, course marshals and more!

Volunteer Positions Explained
Package Pick up The day before event day. The package will likely be prepared and brought to Canada Games Plaza where we will set up for package pick up. You will be helping participants confirm registration, answer questions, and provide general assistance. | Cheer Squad(s) We could all use some good cheer! If you have creative skills for signage and words of encouragement join a cheer squad. Strategically placed cheer teams on the course will encourage participants as they grind their way through the course. | Aid Stations This is a critical function for all rides of this size. Paired in teams, you will manage the aid stations and provide critical nutrition, encouragement, and good cheer to the participants. This opportunity will be done in shifts. |
Medical Team If you hold certifications in first aid, we need you! There will be a variety of locations available on the course and at the venue for emergencies. This will be a full-day commitment. | Venue Support / Liaison The Kris Yip Memorial Fondo will have space for vendor booths, food trucks, and entertainment. We’re looking for a few people to float around and ensure the vendors have what they need. | Morning Greeters / Start Ushers Availability is needed for the morning and before the event starts. These positions will be responsible for overall cheer, last-minute help to participants, and helping participants feel at ease before heading off on the ride. |
Information Station We’ll have an identifiable tent where people can hand off any lost and found items, receive medical aid, and have questions answered about the event. | Course Marshals If you like telling people where to go this job is for you. Simply directing participants and cheering them on the course at critical junctions is all you’ll need to do. | Bike Security – Check In / Check Out This important job will be to ensure that people can securely check in their bikes to a holding area and that the right people are leaving with the right equipment. |
Tear Down Crew This will be an end-of-day opportunity where your help is greatly appreciated to pick up pylons and other course marking materials, aid station equipment, and anything at the venue that needs to be taken down and packed away. | Clean Up Crew This person will be responsible for ensuring garbage and recycling cans are tended to and that the overall venue grounds are kept tidy. | Float Hero This opportunity is for people who are good at multi-tasking, pivoting at a moment's notice and aren’t concerned about being responsible for one particular area or volunteer task. |
Photographer(s) / Videographer(s) A great opportunity to build your portfolio. We are looking for talented people to capture photos and videos of riders and venue activities for our social media accounts and keepsakes for participants. At least one or two people would need to commit to a full day. |
